Transition Initiatives
Transition Initiatives have at their heart one theme: how to adapt our way of living to become more resilient to the forces unleashed by climate change and the scarcities it will inevitably cause. This way of life can be characterised by low growth/low carbon behaviour thereby making a transition from the carbon dependance that is endangering our planet.
There are several Transition towns and cities throughout the world who are already developing the idea – some, with varying degrees of success, even have their own local currencies. Chapel Allerton has its own initiative – TICA – Transition Initiative Chapel Alleron. There are others in our locality including TINWOLF (Transition Initiative in the North West of Leeds), REAP (Roundhay Environmental Action Project). www.reap-leeds.org.uk
