About Us

Radish is an indie radical bookshop  in a tiny space in the smallish urban community of Chapel Allerton in Leeds.   We offer a good range of quality adult and children’s fiction together with genres characterised as alternative or radical – hence Rad…ish.   Radish is about local resilience and we try to practice our politics as an ethic that runs through us like stick-of-rock letters.    In the words of the Chapel Allerton Transition Initiative we are about creating a better Climate for Living, one that is sustainable, green, people and planet orientated.

To this end we have diversified into selling goods that allow communities beyond the locality to earn a living wage so we also stock a good fair trade gifts including jewellery, stationery and crafts.  Upstairs is a showroom dedicated to fair trade clothes.

We are also delighted to have been invited to be part of the Alliance of Radical Booksellers.  Launched in October 2011 we aim to support each other through strengthening our networks and sharing experience and practice with each other.  For more information about the Alliance visit: http://www.radicalbooksellers.co.uk./

We think that Radish is a cornucopia of the eye, the mind – the heart.  Don’t take our word for it. Call in or surf our sites and our LINKS.  We hope you are inspired by the experience!
